Year 4 Bring Rome to Life!

Year 4 brought the legend of Rome to life! Our Year 4 students stepped back in time to Ancient Rome, trading their pencils for mosaic tiles (paper actually) to recreate the famous story of Romulus and Remus. After studying the myth of the twin brothers and the She-Wolf in English, the children transformed their classrooms to design a masterpiece. Using a traditional Roman palette of terracotta, gold, and stone grey, they carefully arranged hundreds of tiny pieces of paper (which they cut themselves), showcasing incredible patience, artist flair and geometric skill. Their final mosaics are a stunning tribute to the founding of Rome and will be proudly displayed in the classroom and eventually our school corridor for everyone to admire.

In addition, our historical adventures took an exciting turn as we explored Hannibal’s legendary assault on Rome. To bring this gripping story to life, the children participated in an immersive English lesson, actively re-enacting Hannibal’s arduous journey. They traced his historic route across the Mediterranean Sea, through Spain, over the treacherous Alps, and southward through Italy before finally arriving at Rome. The children were absolutely captivated by the experience, which truly made history come alive in the classroom.
